Every year, America's Navy comes to approximately 15 cities across the country to show us why having a strong Navy is critical to the American way of life. Since 2005, the Navy Week program has served as the Navy's principal outreach effort into areas of the country without a significant Navy presence, with 210 Navy Weeks held in 74 different U.S. cities.  The program is designed to help its citizens understand that their Navy is deployed around the world, around the clock, ready to defend America at all times. For the sixth time since 2007, the Navy is coming to the Sooner State for Navy Week May 27-June 2. Sailors from across the US are coming to OKC to highlight the mission of the Navy while building and strengthening ties to the community. Leadership Oklahoma is honored to be a part of Navy Week and developing our naval networks!

During your LOK class program, you learned about the military, experience the “life of a soldier” at Ft. Sill and possibly took the Tinker tour when you were in Oklahoma City. From Classes XXV – 32, those classes have had the privilege of flying in a Blackhawk helicopter in Tulsa, thanks to the Air National Guard. Now is your chance to learn about the importance of the Navy and its Strategic Communications Wing 1 (STRATCOMWING) stationed at Tinker AFB, meet with Sailors to hear about life on the water and be briefed on the state of the Navy by Oklahoma’s own Rear Admiral Greg Slavonic, who is currently appointed as the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Manpower and Reserve Affairs in Washington, DC. Mayor David Holt will present the OKC Navy Week proclamation and we will end the luncheon with a panel of STRATCOMWING commanders and officers/enlisted personnel from the two E-6B Mercury squadrons explain their critical mission supporting our nation's strategic deterrent.

Networking from 11:00 am – 11:45 am, then enjoy lunch with sailors at your table. From noon until 1:30 pm will be the presentation and speaker discussion.

June 1-2, 2019, Tinker AFB will be hosting its annual Star Spangled Salute Air Show featuring the Blue Angel Squadron. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, click here to visit the website.
